The Queen's Gambit Moscow Chessmen

These are the official chess pieces inspired by the dramatic final match of the award-winning The Queen's Gambit series. The design recreates the chessmen used by series protagonist Beth Harmon during the 1968 Tournament of Champions final in Moscow, where she faced Russian chess champion Vasily Borgov.

The Moscow match represents one of the defining moments of the series, bringing together Beth's development as a player, her determination to succeed and the distinctive visual atmosphere that helped make the production so memorable.

Faithfully reproduced for players and collectors, these chessmen capture the elegant proportions and commanding presence of the pieces shown during the celebrated final game.

Handcrafted Boxwood Chess Pieces

Each piece is meticulously handcrafted from high-quality boxwood and finished to highlight the clean profiles and fine details of the design. The light army is varnished in a natural colour, while the dark army is finished in black for a bold and clearly defined contrast across the chessboard.

The 89 mm king gives the set an impressive presence while remaining highly practical for regular play. Each remaining piece has been carefully proportioned around the king, creating a visually balanced and cohesive chess set.

Weighted bases provide greater stability during play, giving each move a more substantial and reassuring feel while helping to reduce the likelihood of pieces being accidentally knocked over.
