This Staunton set embodies perfect form and functionality and is a truly magnificent reproduction of an early Jaques cooke chess set. Our talented artisans have captured the essence of a bygone era in this remarkable and beautiful hand carved set of chess pieces.

A detailed replica of an original set manufactured by the British 'Jaques' company. English chess master, Howard Saunton, promoted this set at the first international chess tournament in 1851. Its clearly distinguishable pieces soon became the competition standard known as the 'Staunton' set.

The set has embellishments pioneered by Jaques of London which include the king side stamping (see images)

Treat yourself or a loved one to a quality heirloom set of chess pieces in traditional staunton design.
