Traditional Colours for a Medieval Classic

The antique brown and ivory finish is particularly well suited to the remarkable character of the Isle of Lewis chessmen. Rather than giving the pieces a modern appearance, these warm, understated colours emphasise their medieval origins and the wonderfully individual expressions for which the Lewis designs are famous. Produced in crushed stone resin, the pieces have a substantial weight in the hand while allowing the intricate details of the historic designs to be reproduced with impressive definition. At 3.25 inches, the king has considerable presence and makes this set particularly suitable for larger chessboards. Complete with two additional queens and attractive presentation packaging, this is a distinctive choice for playing, displaying or giving as a memorable chess gift.
