A Classic German-Style Chess Set

This complete chess set brings together one of the most familiar and practical interpretations of the Staunton design. The classic German-style chessmen are recognised for their balanced proportions, clearly defined profiles and comfortable playing characteristics.

The design is equally suited to casual games, serious study and regular club play. Each piece can be identified immediately across the board, while the traditional form gives the set an understated and timeless appearance.

The light army is crafted from natural boxwood, while the opposing pieces are made from ebonised boxwood. This creates a strong and elegant contrast without losing the traditional character of the natural timber.

40 cm Walnut and Maple Chessboard

The chessmen are paired with a handsome 45 cm walnut and maple chessboard. The warm walnut colouring provides an attractive contrast against the lighter maple squares, creating a clear and comfortable playing surface.

Its generous overall size provides ample space for the chess pieces, allowing each piece to sit naturally on the board without the position appearing crowded. The result is a well-balanced combination suitable for both practical play and display.

The natural tones of the walnut and maple complement the boxwood and ebonised chessmen particularly well, giving the complete set a cohesive and traditional appearance.
